Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
Jumaat Mubarak to all Muslims reading this and Greetings to those of you who aren't,
When I went to have my eyesight checked at my local optometrist, she said she couldn't come up with a proper reading because of my diabetic condition and my right eye was showing signs of diabetic retinopathy.
Due to my aging process and diabetic condition, the reading was fluctuating.
I closed my left eye and tried to see with my right eye. Sure enough, the vision was clouded and blurry. When I closed my right eye and saw with my left eye, it was clearly satisfactory for an oldie like me. Alhamdulillah.
Hence my inability to see well at times and being unable to look at the computer screen for long hours.
I accept my situation and have to learn to cope with such a condition. Except for the deteriorating eyesight in the right eye, I can still see fairly well with my left eye. Alhamdulillah.
I understand that there are several experimental treatments to try and improve the vascular system @ also called the circulatory system of diabetics like me.
The vascular system is made up of the veins @ vessels that carry blood and lymph throughout our body.
These arteries and veins carry blood through our blood circulatory systems, delivering much needed oxygen and essential nutrients to our body tissues and at the same time, take away our tissues waste matter to the respective organs dealing with such stuff.
For diabetics like myself, certain tiny veins that reach out to the most delicate and sensitive organs such as my eyes and nerve endings in my hands and foot become damaged over the years and if I don't take preventive measures like taking supplements to revive those dead veins, it can lead to gangrene and eventual amputation of my limbs. Na'uzubillah!
Hence, I have been taking Mecobalamin, which has in a way helped prevent such a tragedy take place.
For my deteriorating eyesight, I ran out of my supplements a couple of months back which resulted in my worsening eyesight in my right eye. Thank God, I managed to buy my Occusharp eye supplements last week and hope that it helps stop my eyesight from getting worse. It is supposed to restore the condition of the macula, which is important for us to be able to see central vision.
i was shopping at Tesco Ampang when I experienced my first incident of Diabetic Retinopathy! Man! Was I shocked to my marrow!
Suddenly, I couldn't see completely. My vision was suddenly blocked by these swathes of grayness and I was thinking, 'Oh! Oh! What's happening?'
I looked for a place where I could stay still and try to make sense of what was happening? I had the sense of mind to make a call to my wife and tell her about my condition and what I was going through.
She advised me to remain still and drink some water or sugary stuff for it could also be a hypoglycemic attack due to my being a diabetic. I'm lucky to have an educated spouse who could react and respond accordingly. If it was someone naive or ignorant, her reaction would be a state of helplessness. God forbid.
After a while, the bout of vision impairment passed and my vision returned to normal. Phew!
I began to read up about the condition and now am better informed as to what I went through and learned to take my medicines and supplements on time to prevent any such recurrence.
Thank God, my left eye is still in pretty good condition for it helps balance my eyesight in order to be able to look at this screen here and type these words.
All I can say is that I realize that there will come a time when I won't be able to blog anymore due to my failing eyesight. I accept whatever comes my way.
I leave my more than 2960 over articles to you as my effort to share my acquired knowledge and derived information from my years of studying the various aspects of our life here as those who have been created as human beings by our Maker, Allah the Almighty.
Maybe my grand nephew Amir Rafiq might one day be able to take over my blog and contribute his views on that platform. Insya Allah.
He is the brightest amongst my many grandnephews and nieces.
I believe that he'll do a good job handling my www.mahaguru58.blogspot.com site when I am around no more.
In the meantime, I will go and consult the eye specialist at the government clinic at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and see what he or she can assist me with?
An optometrist @ Perveen Kaur whom I saw the other day at Berjaya Times Square told me that my right eye shows signs of cataract.
According to her, the eye specialist might be able to restore my eyesight by removing the cataract surgically. I don't know whether I do have cataract? Need to confirm with the eye specialists.
So, I will go and consult the eye specialist soon. Whether it helps or not is entirely up to Allahu Rabbul Alamin.
So please understand if you see me not blogging quite as often because of my failing eyesight.
Being able to blog has been the highlight of my life. It adds value to my life in order to be able to share all that I have come to experience and learn with you my respected readers and helped me to leave my blog articles to the global blog reading public as part of my own contribution to the infinite collection of knowledge available online amongst the internet archives.
Long after I am gone, dead and buried, these articles will remain as a testament to my having been here amongst those who read and write. Hence my setting up my own site @ www.readnwrite.net to cater for this sort of career. Too old to be employed. Freelance Translating from English to Malay and Malay to English, Scriptwriting, Editing, Proofreading is now my only option to keep on earning an income. Using my brain instead of brawn.
Continuing the legacy of the Scribes. Those who write down information for others to read and learn. So, sincerely, I do hope that I'll be able to see and earn my keep as long as its possible for me to do so. Don't wish to be a burden to anyone. I'd rather return to Ar Rahman than be so.
In the meantime, I'd continue to share my thoughts through my blog and FB accounts. I do own a Twitter account but it's too space constricted for me to be in it. Blogging's so much more better!
After all, we are here only for a short while. The 3rd realm of our existence. After having been created as Souls, we were in our Mother's womb for a period of 9 months in average. We were born into this world @ Dunia /Dunya, naked and sinfree, raised according to our individual circumstances.
Grew up and learned to differentiate between good and bad, right from wrong yet we committed so many errors and mistakes due to our own ignorance or stubbornness.
Some of us fell in love, fell out of love, met and married, had children born to us, some of us divorced when marriage was going wrong. Remarried but this time with knowledge and experience. Made lots of friends. some enemies too. Hehehehe.
Doesn't matter. All of them came into our life as a result of the choices we made. All are learning curves. From being naive, some of us have grown to understand life better. Now know better to pick and choose whose company we need to keep and whom to avoid.
Know what to eat and what to avoid. Have a fair sense of skills to select the diamonds from the many duds out there. Know better to not fall into temptations when it crops up before us. Knowing a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. :)
Have accomplished more than before with the little that we have with us. Know better than to splurge when we have more than what we need. Learned to carry ourselves better with age and experience. Growing accustomed to keeping more valuable time and company with the innocents @ children than to waste time on the grown up recalcitrants! :P
Appreciate the remaining moments of our life more by being with those who are good and knowledgeable than to suffer in silence with those who are not.
Learned to thank those who make our remaining seconds here on Earth much more meaningful and appreciate them for it. Know when to stop blogging and go pray Jumaat! :D

Thanks for reading. Got to go now. Take care. Do pray for my recovery, Insya Allah!
Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
